Overview

Summary:

 

The Itinerary & Revenue Analyst is part of the Itinerary and Revenue Planning group. This group is responsible for optimally deploying Windstar’s six-ship fleet on worldwide itineraries.  We are also responsible for managing the internal process to make sure these itineraries are feasible, profitable, and clearly communicated to marketing.  In addition to deployment & itinerary planning, the group is responsible for providing analysis and reporting for the commercial team.  This includes daily and weekly reporting, development of automated and interactive dashboards, ad-hoc analysis, and budgeting.

 

The Itinerary & Revenue Analyst provides general analysis and recommendations for all the areas above. This role is perfect for an analytical generalist who is interested in the travel industry, and you will be exposed to many parts of the company.  The majority of your day will be spent doing analysis (mostly in MS Excel), researching competition and product offerings, and communicating your findings to others in the company through presentations and reports. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide analysis and recommendations for ship deployments and itineraries that optimize Windstar’s financial performance while supporting our brand. This includes developing revenue and cost projections for multiple scenarios.
  • Collect and maintain databases of internal and external information that allow for quick and informed decisions related to itinerary planning.
  • Perform in-depth analysis to support itinerary planning and revenue management needs.
  • Develop and automate reports that will be used on a regular basis to make informed commercial decisions.
  • Create ad-hoc reports related to sales, marketing, pricing decisions, ticket revenue, and ancillary revenue.
  • Assist Director of Itinerary and Revenue Planning in budgeting and forecasting ticket revenue and ancillary revenue.
  • Perform project management, as needed, of itinerary development, presentation, and opening-for-sale process
  • Conducts insightful reviews that require usage of statistics and robust analytics
  • Prepare and deliver high-impact presentations (using PowerPoint and other tools)

 

Requirements:

 

  • College degree or equivalent required. Preference for degrees in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field.       Degree in social sciences and humanities are okay if you have a demonstrated skillset in quantitative analysis.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in an analytical role strongly preferred.
  • Advanced to expert level Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookup) and PowerPoint skills.
  • Must be able to interact with a variety of people and staff of all levels.      
  • Concise, clear writing is required.
  • Knowledge of geography essential.
  • Travel industry experience desired. Interest in how airlines/cruise lines work is a plus.
  • Pragmatic problem solver with project management experience desired
  • Ability to extract and distill information (including third part or publicly available information), and draw meaningful and actionable insights
  • Well-organized with financial skills and solid background in marketing analytics
  • Leader, motivator, self-starter, analytical, independent thinker, works well in a team
